Episode transcript:

Good morning, Daily Peppers and a very happy Friday. It is the end of the week and we have made it. And today's daily pep is all about overthinking. And it might not go in the direction you think it's going to. So there's this saying that if it's not a hell yes, it is a hell no. Or just if it's not a hell yes, it's a no. And while there are some things that that can apply to I believe not everything is that simple. A lot of the times when we make decisions, we are confronted by what our inner dreamsitter would have us do, what other people's expectations of us are, and what we think we should do.

So it's no wonder that sometimes it takes us a while to make a decision because there is quite a lot of gunk to wade through. Sometimes it can take us a little while to make a decision because it takes a little while for our intuition to kick in. And sometimes it is really, really hard to distinguish what we actually want versus what is expected of us. And often our inner dreamshitter masquerades as truth. For many of us around here, we've either called ourselves or been referred to as over thinkers. And while sometimes we can get in our own way and analyse things too much, I think we have to give ourselves a bit of grace and own the fact that sometimes it can take a little bit more time to make a decision that feels right for us. And around here we are nothing if not intentional. And sometimes that shit just takes time.

Sometimes it is worth putting a bit of a time container on ourselves, and other times we might only know something wasn't right for us when the deadline has passed, and that's kind of made our decision for us. So if you are making a decision at the moment or there's something you're stuck on, well, let's stop demonising ourselves for taking our time and being intentional. We tend to know when we're really overthinking things and that can be a great time to bring a friend in or do some journaling. And I also think it is worth noting that if your answer is no, but you can't put a reason to it, or it doesn't make sense on paper, don't dismiss it just because it doesn't make sense. Sometimes listening to yourself can feel really random and only makes sense in hindsight. So here's to working with our intentional brains rather than against them. Here's to not buying into the whole if it's not a hell yeah, it's a no bollocks.

And here's to doing what we can to make some space and some time to listen to ourselves in what can be a really, really noisy world. So some things there to take with you into the weekend. I hope you do something lovely for yourself today. I hope the weekend provides some wonderful, unexpected joy, and I can't wait to be back here with you on Monday morning for a new episode of the Daily Prep. Or in your inbox on Sunday if you're part of my email community. Either way, I look forward to seeing you soon. Take care and remember that everything changes when you believe you matter.
